race against the machine

"race against the machine" is the publication of a design studio at the institute of architecture and design (department of building theory) at tu wien, winter semester 2022/23. guided by the question "does ai design better than us — or do we get better together?", the students designed a school step by step with the image generators midjourney and dall·e, setting the ai-driven result against a conventionally developed design. the work explores how artificial intelligence reshapes the architectural design process — as a tool, a counterpart and a partner.
