techdorf lavanttal

a competition entry for the lavanttal technology park — a "tech village" that keeps the existing fabric and makes it the basis of the new. for a new quarter, not everything has to be torn down: the former country road becomes the quarter's green artery, the adjoining kollnitz ditch its blue one — an ecological backbone that visibly guides and stores rainwater.

a modular system on a 17.2-metre grid (timber-concrete composite, highly prefabricated) keeps every building adaptable across its whole life cycle: parking deck, office, lab or workshop — today, tomorrow and beyond. the result is a quarter that draws character from its grown structure and builds sustainability into its very construction.
