koppl kindergarten

the "kindergarten+" for the municipality of koppl is a place of gathering: a circular, terraced volume that nestles into the slope and becomes the new centre of the village. the existing buildings sit concentrically around the site — the round new build becomes the pivot.

organisation

above an underground car park sit the ground floor and two kindergarten levels; a set-back top floor holds municipal flats and is laid out so it can later be converted into a full kindergarten level. at its heart, a stair and a circulating movement zone wrap around two daylit atria; group and multi-purpose rooms flow seamlessly onto the surrounding, weather-protected terrace.

timber rib construction on a regular 2.5 m grid, highly prefabricated and low in co₂. two atria for night ventilation, geothermal energy with deep boreholes, a rainwater cistern and roof pv — klima:aktiv silver.
