competition entry 'das kleine krokodil' (the little crocodile) for fischerau primary school — a compact terraced school with a minimal footprint that frees up a large, continuous open space to the north.

organisation

three storeys, six clusters and two atria structure the building. each cluster opens directly onto its own open-air classroom on the terrace — learning and outdoor space interlock. a shared forecourt ties the primary school, kindergarten and nursery into one children's campus.

construction

timber construction on a flood-safe concrete plinth, consistently following the timber grid. green roofs with photovoltaics and district heating keep the ecological footprint low.
